As part of their Smart Lighting Initiative, UC Davis, the California Lighting Technology Center (CLTC) and their industry partners are demonstrating integrated lighting and HVAC control systems. This integrated solution aims to optimize each system’s overall performance to improve occupant comfort and increase energy savings. Currently, fourteen buildings on campus are leveraging this control strategy.

UC Davis established their Smart Lighting Initiative in 2010 to renovate existing indoor and outdoor campus lighting to address the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) call for a 60 to 80 percent reduction in electrical lighting consumption statewide by 2020.
