Lucas Frerichs, Yolo County Supervisor, Valley Clean Energy Board of Directors
Lucas Frerichs is a member of the Yolo County Board of Supervisors representing District 2. He previously served as the Mayor of Davis and as a member of the Davis City Council from 2012 to 2022. During his Davis City Council tenure, Lucas was instrumental in founding Valley Clean Energy, the locally governed not-for-profit electricity provider for Davis, Woodland, Winters, and unincorporated Yolo County. Lucas earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government at California State University-Sacramento, and Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University.

Andrés Martínez, EGG
Andrés Martínez is an Energy Graduate Group master’s student. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering at the Technological University of Panama (UTP), where he graduated with the highest honors. Prior to joining UC Davis, he worked as an assistant professor in the Electrical Engineering Faculty at UTP, and as a researcher at the Hackerspace FIE Prototyping Laboratory. Currently, at UC Davis, he seeks to explore the optimization of energy efficiency in different processes, such as distributed power generation, electric vehicle charging and HVAC operation. In addition, Andrés is also interested in performing life-cycle assessments of new products that could help to reduce environmental impacts and create a more sustainable society.
