Matthew earned his B.A. in Economics with a minor in Applied Statistics from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2024. During his studies, he focused on sustainable energy, gaining research experience in geothermal district energy and microgrids at Cleveland State’s Energy Policy Center, as well as offshore wind and battery energy storage systems at the Schatz Energy Research Center. He is particularly interested in conducting research that finds a balance between the security, equity, and sustainability of electricity generation and transmission, aiming to contribute to the development of resilient and equitable energy policies. Outside of academia, Matthew enjoys running, hiking, and backpacking and is excited to be located so close to Lake Tahoe.
