Aerosol-based building envelope sealing technology advanced by the Western Cooling Efficiency Center was recently featured inĀ Green Building Advisor, highlighting its ability to automatically locate and seal air leaks using pressurized aerosolized sealants. The technology improves building airtightness, energy performance, and construction efficiency, and has been deployed in residential buildings to reduce leakage and improve overall envelope performance.

WCEC continues to refine the technology through field demonstrations, including new methods that allow sealing in occupied homes with minimal preparation while achieving leakage reductions of up to 57 percent. These advancements are helping bring automated air sealing into broader use, supporting more efficient, comfortable, and resilient buildings.
